Any #Plan9 or #9front expert on fedi? I heard a lot about it and few days ago when I spotted a new release of the [9front](http://9front.org/releases/2026/08/02/0/) and there was #qcow2 #QEMU images, I started to look at it. However I never get the #rio #GUI session to work. Following my #NetBSD 10.1 journey where my #ThinkPad T470s wake up from S3 suspend with dead keyboard and touchpad yet working WiFi, today I tried with the lastest 11.0 snapshot (20251220). All the same as before, unresponsive keyboard and touchpad, with working WiFi. However when I tried with a USB connected keyboard in default #CTWM session, the keyboard seemed to work after a while. At the same time, WiFi got disconnected so I lost ssh access and had to use power button for hard shutdown. I think I will probably end my NetBSD journey at this point. #FOSS #Unix #BSD #RunBSD

Scroll through a random video on YouTube about the #JWM window manager, seems interesting. Looked much like #OpenBox, both used #XML format config files. I noticed that #XLibre got built in #FreeBSD #ports so I thought why not try it in a VM. Turns out it is just list you would do install xorg, a few stantard #pkg commands and it just runs ! #RunBSD #BSD #FOSS #Unix

Today I found out that I can use a subdomain from my already existing online shop domain to #DNS forward to my #homeserver. I now have a nice looking web address for my #Owncast server and don't need to register a new domain. 🌐 After that I took care of gaining https and SSL. I followed Owncast's recommendation for Caddy, who provide a SSL reverse proxy with a free certificate from Let’s Encrypt. At last I took care of the branding and individual look of the channel. #selfhosting #Linux #FOSS
