🧵 1/2 Today I prescribed myself pure laziness. Yesterday was my first day with a stand at the #PrintempsDesPelotes festival, I've never worked in front of such crowds before. Over 800 people came despite it being a working day, the audience was wonderfully interested, asked pleasantly curious questions and was inspired. Which inspires and motivates me! In July, I'll tell you about #plantFibres, the big summer special in our #CulturalHeritage centre and #museum in #Alsace. We watch ancient techniques and rites and learn about modern chances. Yesterday, I inhaled pounds of #hemp. This rather ugly #plant (yes!😈 ) doesn't reveal at first glance the qualities it has after getting beaten. Just finished up a Moby Dick commission. This project was right up my alley - nerdy, detail oriented, multi step. I’m going to do a few posts for it because there’s a lot of detail. I hand bleached the fabric and used 1700s illustrations as well as descriptions from the book for reference. And it didn’t feel right to make the whale without Captain Ahab! #fibrearts #mobydick #sewing #whales
