This is your periodic reminder that tortoise beetles are cool. Fleabane tortoise beetle (Cassida Murraea) on some fleabane flowers The adult here is green, while the ones I found earlier in the year are red. They change to red as they age, and the ones from earlier in the year are likely last year's adults. #photography #MacroPhotography #macro #wildlife #nature #garden #insects #TortoiseBeetle

Found this exceptionally tiny lacewing-like critter on the seedhead of a pendulus sedge. Any ideas what it is? I really have no clue. Body size was approx 2mm not including those long tails, whole thing can't have been longer than 4mm. No further images to help, I'm afraid. The seedhead was moving a lot in the wind. #photography #MacroPhotography #macro #wildlife #insects
