The machine does not understand what it is doing. It mindlessly copies material based largely on the statistical over-representation of certain subjects within the training set. An example is their propensity to put cooked salmon into images of fish in rivers, or to "sign" images with meaningless squiggles. Given the same prompt and seed number, you can generate the exact same image as someone else, ...you can even reverse engineer the prompt if you have the image and seed number. Their "learning," unlike yours, is frozen in a particular state and unable to evolve. Humans are never trapped in such a state. When humans learn they are integrating knowledge into a cohesive worldview that is constantly transforming according to context. An AI text-to-image model on the other hand, is an objective computational system that already has all of its potential generations captured by its latent space. This latent space is locked in a non-adaptive, rigid state, and this state is navigated via prompts and seed numbers. Image, prompt, and seed number are inextricably linked in these models.
