Besides introducing a new brand, Fedora Atomic Desktops had some specific updates to it in the Fedora 40 release.
As a refresher, we're talking about Silverblue, Kinoite, Sway Atomic (was Sericea), and Budgie Atomic (was Onyx) - all under one umbrella!

Nothing makes you miss the background updating of #Fedora #Silverblue quite like waiting on macOS or Windows to update.
Part of me is tempted to use #UBlue to make a custom #Fedora #Silverblue image to add in the Pop_OS Gnome extensions, make #vim the default editor, and #Thunderbird the default mail reader and call it "Blue Bacon Linux"
@[email protected] just seen this and thought I could share my experience. I've been running both #silverblue and opensuse #aeon and I loved not having to worry about checking for updates and being able to find pretty much anything I needed on flathub.
Still they're not the same as a regular distro: some IDEs are a bit of a pain to set up (vscode or neovim), some of the latest tools don't work (in my case fwupd to update the bios), or the need to use a smart card to do any kind of gov related paperwork..

@[email protected] I hope they (the "immutable" spins) get a more cohesive naming scheme, like MicroOS Gnome/KDE/etc ✌️😎

Fedora Onyx is the atomic version of the Fedora Budgie spin to give you another option for a DE in the new paradigm for the Linux desktop. :budgie:

I'd honestly be much happier with #Fedora #Silverblue and its variants if it just used Distrobox. Instead, they use Toolbox which doesn't feel nearly as full-featured. Maybe I'm just not getting it, but it feels like it's not as good as Distrobox.
2️⃣ My second blog post:
Containerized #PostgreSQL with rootless #Podman :container_linux:
https://mo8it.com/blog/containerized-postgresql-with-rootless-podman
It is a short introduction to running rootless Podman containers for development or on a server with PostgreSQL as a central example.
This is an optional preparation for the next post about using #sqlx in #RustLang :ferris:
Running PostgreSQL with Podman is something that was asked at least twice on Mastodon from devs using #Fedora #Silverblue
Feedback appreciated 😇
