@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] IANAL, but someone could also fork FreeBSD, license it under GPL, and hack the Linux ext drivers to work with the FreeBSD calls, but this goes against the ideology of much of the BSD community. Distributions might also possibly relicense their Linux kernel version to GPLv3 and ship zfs, but that might break the ability to contribute and changes back to the upstream kernel, which goes against much of the Linux ideology. Again, IANAL.

@[email protected] You don't need to fork #FreeBSD. You can just port it and add it to the FreeBSD ports collection. See for example the #VirtualBox kernel module, emulators/virtualbox-ose-kmod

Not going to lie, I wouldn't be unhappy to see an #opensource arms race of sorts in the commercial #Linux space. So far, #SUSE is the only one that has obviously done anything actionable, to my knowledge, around the rhetoric. If #Oracle wants to step up and fix CDDL/GPL compatibility or opensource the PUEL parts of #VirtualBox, now would be a great time to step up to the plate and take a swing. https://www.suse.com/news/SUSE-Preserves-Choice-in-Enterprise-Linux/
