When it is really hot out, it can be hard to finish a painting before it dries! One way to fix that is to paint smaller- each of these paintings is less than 2x2 inches! For more ideas of how to paint in hot & dry weather, read my 2 part series: https://dotart.blog/karin-wanderer-learns/were-having-a-heat-wave & https://dotart.blog/karin-wanderer-learns/i-started-this-heat-wave Different types of weather affect your painting- even if you work inside! #mastoArt #WriteFreely #Blog #Art #Watercolor #Watercolour #Summer #Heatwave #Weather

The hummingbird feeder was frozen. I cleaned it out and made new nectar and I took it outside. The hummingbird was so cold and hungry IT CAME TO THE FEEDER WHILE I WAS HOLDING IT. Before I even hung it back up. Jury rigged a "easy bake" style heater to keep the nectar from freezing (my last incandescent put to good use... i'm monitoring the temp with an infrared thermometer). Superclamp involved, of course. So useful. #seattle #weather #birds

Red Line 07 by Terrill Welch Acrylic and oil on canvas 48 x 36 inches Artist notes: On November 30, 2021 at 4:51 pm I was coming home from a friends and looked up to see the third in a parade of atmospheric rivers turning a bend overhead. I was so astonished that I pulled over to take a closer look and took a few reference images. I know right then and there that this beauty was going under the brush. Usually we do not get to see the power and size of these phenomena because the heavy rains is coming down all around us and visibility is poor. Not the case this time! People saw it all around the area from sea to shore. #Introduction time: I'm Rick. I've been fascinated by #Arctic and #boreal #weather, #climate and #cultures for more than 50 years. I've worked as a weather & climate professional for 40 years in private, public & academic spheres. I've been fortunate to live most of my life in #Alaska, and most of that time on Lower Tanana Dene lands near Fairbanks. Also, I have a big interest in Alaska Indigenous languages and will support/promote at every opportunity. I'm strongly pro-kindness and anti-troll.
