While the 1965 #Ford #Transit was a joint European effort, British and German vehicles kept their separate production lines (for ‘German’ examples actually in Genk/Belgium) and engine ranges. Since in both cases this was a compact V4, the bonnet could be kept short (blue van). The later diesel inline four was longer and required a modified front end (beige van) which could also accommodate the 3.0litre ‘Essex’ V6 for UK emergency vehicles.
