All kinds of insects are flourishing this year, including the giant walking stick (Megaphasma denticrus). I had seen males before (left), but never a female (right). She is significantly larger than the male and the largest insect in the US.

There are around 200,000 reindeer in Finnmark (the most northern county in Norway), and only 75,000 inhabitants, so running into reindeer is not very rare.
But I love meeting them on the road and during hikes nonetheless, and this encounter felt especially magical. I was enjoying the view from a lake at night time, when suddenly I got the company of this contrasting white reindeer.
