What hurts me most isn't hunger or exhaustion, but the feeling that my children's voices are no longer being heard. We are still here, and we still need support to keep going. Please don't let our story pass you by in silence. 💔💔 https://chuffed.org/project/154249-israas-hope-a-familys-fight-to-rebuild-after-war #Gaza #palestine #Madtodon #freepalestine #mutualaid #MutualAidRequest #MutualAidBoost #HelpFolkslive @[email protected] #helpsky #us #uspol #israel #genocide #writer #StandWithFamilies #KindnessMatters @[email protected] @[email protected]

Writing and reading are not about mass-produced stories that can be consumed like a cheap hamburger or used like a piece of particleboard furniture. A novel, a poem, a nonfiction book--whatever--is a shared experience. The author, even if they are a ghost writer, is putting a piece of their soul into the work, experiencing it as they write it, and you absorb it into your own soul / mind / spirit, when you read. The act of writing itself is a form of spiritualism, of meditation. That is why AI will never replace the written word of human beings. Because writing is creation, writing is reading, and writing is sacred. AI has no soul. It is a literal automaton. It doesn't matter. It is empty. I am not afraid of it, but I will not use it in my writing, or my writing too will become empty, which I refuse to allow. #ai #amwriting #bookstodon #writing #writer #writers

O btw I am slowly putting my kinda gay space #adventure romance story on #wattpad . I in intended it to just be a coool scifi adventure similar to Firefly and it just kinda evolved into some kinda of #depressing lesbian #romance thing. Its written in first person and alternates between the two main characters. It is good. No idea, it has been read by non but myself. I just have 12 chapters and need to put that somewhere. https://www.wattpad.com/myworks/358504962-the-space-between-us-wounds #writing #writer #story #novel #scifi

(Re #introduction since I switched instances) I'm a #writer and #editor fueled daily by #coffee and #music. I love curling up with a good #book. I also love taking #photos (though these days, I haven't been picking up my camera as often as I should). I also manage Pushpins, a #GIS consulting biz, with my husband, and boy, it's not a walk in the park. But I do my best to take on the challenges and see what new things I can learn.

Glad to be part of this wonderful community!

A re- #introduction I'm a #writer and working on yet another draft of a novel. I post about things that interest me and will engage with thoughtful people. For mental health reasons, I don't post about #politics much. The #worldonfire and I grieve over it every day, as well as show-up, contribute, protest, and vote. I respect people who know the source of their news & cull out misinformation. I read a minimum of 3 newspapers a day. (IMO we have to keep #journalism esp. #localnewspapers alive.) I'm a member of one of the groups our (USA) House Speaker would like to get rid of: #LGBTQ I'm a #breastcancer survivor. I hate war, nukes, guns, nazis, and bullies. I love my wife, my #dog, the #cats across the street, my friends, #theatre #musicals #films some #tv #nonviolence #qigong and #taichi #greenchile and #NewMexico . Books: I'll read most anything. I forgot to do an #introductions post when I moved here, so here goes. I am O. Westin, a #writer of #MicroFiction, mostly #ScienceFiction and #fantasy #fiction, and occasional #poetry. My stories are generally less than 280 characters long.

No set schedule, stories are written and posted when inspiration strikes.
I am LGBTQIA+ positive, and usually favour wholesome and hope over darkness and edgy nihilism.
