We live under the flight path of wildlife traveling between native forests in #CoastalNSW. At midsummer, these creatures are all very busy feeding on, pollinating, propagating (through excreting seeds), and regenerating not only the great native forests, but many private gardens. Why not give your local native birds and wildlife a gift for #2024 by planning now to plant edible native flowers, shrubs and trees wherever you live. Or find a Bush Regeneration group to work with on local public lands. Before long, #Biodiversity Value will become a measurable contribution to the value of both public and privately owned land, including yours. It’s the beautiful gift you give to yourself, your children’s children, our wildlife, and the planet. #Wildlife #NativePlants #Gifts #Gardening #FlyingFox #Cockatoo #Frangipani #Bloomscrolling #Summer #Australia #HappyNewYear

Back home for Spring planting in the garden! 🌼 🌷 Plants chosen for coastal NSW include drought-tolerant Australian natives - to provide food and shelter for native wildlife, low-growing ground cover for the soil and flowering colour for humans. These and others went into a heavily mulched street-facing verge strip, scattered with sunflower seeds for wild birds and volunteer meadow flowers. #Bloomscrolling #LowMaintenance #FloweringPlants #Wildlife #Garden #Australia

One of the great pleasures of cultivating a home #garden is the daily ritual of #foraging fresh greens for lunch. I wandered down to pick some greens and give the tadpoles their daily feed (cucumber slices). Yes, although it’s almost winter here, native frog tadpoles are still fattening up, ready to metamorphose next month. But also attracted to our pond this time of year are these gorgeous Eastern Billabongflies. And today, like most days this past month, I spent timeless moments of pure joy watching our fleet of blue damselflies flitting about tasting flowers, veg and each other, then resting satisfied in the warmth of the low sun. #EasternBillabongfly #Tadpoles #NativeFrogs #Damselfly #Vegetables #Flowers #Pond #Biodiversity #Nature #Sydney #Australia
