@[email protected] you can send to a file and then back that up like any other file. So the target doesn't _need_ to run #btrfs, but you don't get all the cool scrubbing etc that you'd get if you receive from that file on another #btrfs system.

And I know where to begin with #SUSE. SUSE's documentation is excellent and generally publicly available. Their paid support is excellent. And SLEMicro is excellent for hosting Kubernetes and other workloads. And SUSE supports #btrfs out of box!
