Hot take: You shouldn't be allowed to #trademark individual dictionary words. Period. Yes that includes single-word brand names like Mastodon, Tweet, Twitch, Discord, Apple, Tesla, Shell, etc.
The notion that you can own a word, one of the most basic elements of language, especially a word that's been in use for anywhere from hundreds to thousands of years BEFORE you or your business even existed, is one of the many ridiculous constructs that #capitalism made up and makes us think is normal.
Ever since the UCSF study showing how stable drugs are past the expiration date, I no longer take those dates seriously. 😆 "Expired" five years ago? Feh, it's fine...
