Some #Reddit subreddits might be put behind a paywall soon. Get ready for another new user wave when this bullshit happens. If you still use Reddit, check out #Lemmy(https://join-lemmy.org/), #PieFed(https://piefed.social/) or #Mbin(https://joinmbin.org/). https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/are-subreddit-paywalls-ahead-on-reddit/#google_vignette #fediverse #enshittification

#OpenSource Software is basically free (gratis) labor for corporations. Always has been. However Libre Software (Free Software as defined by Richard Stallman) is basically protecting your rights and freedoms as the user. You should know the differences. Companies never mentioned Libre (free) Software at all and popularized the term open source because they know that #OSS don't teach 4 user freedoms. They like it when you depend on them. Hence the term " #enshittification ". #fsf #freesoftware

💩 Canonical finally snapped. After gaslighting everyone about good intentions, they will now fully commit to their proprietary Snapverse. Baby steps, then one big Godzilla one. IPO, MS or GTFO seems to be the party line. Not gonna join a cult, specially a corporate one, just to be resold back to MS or worse. At least they can't play the "benefit of the doubt" card anymore. #Enshittification #Opensource #Canonical #Ubuntu #Snap https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2023/07/ubuntu-23-10-new-app-store-deb-support
