Are we ever going to get quote toots? I know they said yes, but that was well over a year ago. #mastodon #fosstodon

OK, so I officially registered #Fosstodon on libera.chat. I'm going to be occasionally dropping in there (don't expect @[email protected] though). If you're wanting to chat, that's where I'll be (but not all the time). Anybody is welcome!

New instance, new #introduction. Hello #fosstodon & #mastodon! I'm Robbie, a freshly hatched #linux user and #retrogaming fan. Also an avid proponent of #foss and #digitalrights. I love #music, #movies, and #80s / #90s #nostalgia. Also a criminology masters student, in my 40s, returning to university in 2024, with an interest in researching #cybercrime.

I am leaving fosstodon ASAP. I somehow missed that fosstodon is English only and that is unacceptable to me. #fosstodon

@[email protected] @[email protected] If this kind of behavior is acceptable to how people in #Fosstodon believe the policy and moderation should happen, then that thankfully helps clarify for me that Fosstodon is not nearly as inclusive as I had believed it to be. I'm happy to know this now before I recommended it to more people, but I sincerely apologize to the people I had recommended to that server and who had joined before I knew this.

@[email protected] have taken a look. @[email protected]'s response seems reasonable here https://fosstodon.org/@kev/110932097824182915 it seems like an issue with the policy that was signed up to. Hosting an instance can be a lot of work. So fully understand decisions that could simplify moderation and make life a bit easier on what is, after all, a voluntary project. If your #Mastodon server enforces a colonialistic "English-only" rule and forbids languages like Irish and Welsh (or any other minority language) from being used, consider moving to a new server. #Fosstodon

When I joined #fosstodon it had 30k users. Now has 60k users. And the quality of content, moderation, and general vibes are great. Community is taking off, and if you're into something else, there's an instance for you 🚀

To all the new users: Mastodon is like Twitter, but without the crappy attitudes, crappy algorithms and bad manners. Here you work harder to find peeps, but once you do, it's an amazing place to be and interact with. #twitter #mastodon #fosstodon
