Is there anything you would like to ask the #Linux Foundation's TAB (Technical Advisory Board)? Then come to the "ask us anything" session with the current TAB at the @[email protected] 2024, which is currently scheduled for 9:00 on Friday, September 20[1]. And if you can't be there, just tell me your questions: I'll try to bring a few of them forward if I get a chance. I'm really proud and excited to share my stealth mission from the past nine months... Today — #Fastly commits $40M in free services to the @[email protected]'s entire ecosystem of projects and maintainers. The unique speed and performance of #Fastly's network are thanks in large part to the customization made possible by the #Linux #kernel, so we're proud to give back not only to the Linux community but also to the Foundation's extended ecosystem of #OSS projects. https://dev.to/fastly/fastly-and-the-linux-kernel-8fg

#Linux #kernel 6.7-rc8 is out: https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/CAHk-=whbyHgacqfOJ0VU_GxB-p=Cz+xsQ6XWrAEx=gT_QO9ERg@mail.gmail.com/ "'"So as expected, pretty much nothing happened over the holiday week. […] So rc8 is mostly just a placeholder, and a "I do rc's each week, whether they matter or not". Shortlog appended for completeness. And hey, regardless of whether all you peeps are interested in testing another rc or not, here's to hoping you all had a good 2023, and wishes for an even better 2024! Linus"'" #LinuxKernel

Wondering what's up with the #Linux mainline #kernel repository for #Ubuntu: it used to be updated daily, but since ~3 weeks ago no new builds appeared: <https://kernel.ubuntu.com/mainline/?C=M;O=D> Did it move somewhere else[1]? Maybe even to a proper PPA that finally allows installing and updating upstream kernels like any other software shipped via PPAs? [1] doesn't look like it, as least https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds wasn't updated #LinuxKernel

Linus re-sorted the #Linux #kernel's MAINTAINERS file again and had this to say:

We just sorted the entries and fields last release […] I decided to see if we can keep things ordered for even just one release.

The answer is "No. No we cannot".

I suggest that all kernel developers will need weekly training sessions, involving a lot of Big Bird and Sesame Street. And at the yearly maintainer summit, we will all sing the alphabet song together.
