For some reason not all of my #Matrix conversations show up in #ElementX so I end up having two versions of #Element installed on my #Android phones which is not wonderful for battery life and data usage. Element X should have been branded as Element Beta or something along those lines.

I have to admit that #Matrix hasn't lived up to the interoperability promise. Integrations with Slack, Discord, IRC, etc have been complicated and rocky, and don't seem to have gotten much better since the Libera divorce. Don't get me wrong, it's still a useful service, but it's just not quite lived up to its promises.

Things I miss since the #Matrix / #Libera #IRC bridge went down:

* Being able to connect as the same IRC user from multiple devices as once
* Not having to care if a room was primarily on Libera or Matrix
* Having to now administer two versions of the same rooms at the same time
* Seeing users that used to regularly interact no longer do so because some are on Matrix and the other on Libera
* IRC bots no longer working in Matrix channels
