Property and Contract in #Economics: The Case for Economic Democracy by David Ellerman This book makes 2 arguments. 1. The employment contract is the core of the #capitalism rather than private property 2. The employment contract is invalid because it violates #WorkersRights to #democracy in the firm. All firms should be structured as worker #coops for economic justice https://www.ellerman.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Ellerman-Property-and-Contract-Book.pdf @[email protected] #books #philosophy #ethics #anticapitalism #capitalist #anticapitalist #BusinessEthics

“Monadic panpsychism is preferable to combinatory and emergentist panpsychism because it faces a significantly less worrisome set of objections. Apart from being unaffected by the seemingly insuperable issue of subject combination, I will demonstrate that monadic panpsychism also has tools to address other kinds of the combination problem. That alone justifies the need for a new formulation of panpsychism…” Link: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11229-023-04464-0 #philosophy #panpsychism #consciousness

Time for a new #introduction I'm a #ComputerScience #PhD candidate at the #University of #Vermont (#UVM). There, I'm doing #AI and #ALife #research with Josh Bongard and many others. Themes include #evolution, #evolvability, innate #intelligence, #cells, #bodies, and #endosymbiosis. I believe #science should be open and accessible, so I write about my ideas on a #Wordpress #blog, review relevant #books on #Goodreads, and publish my source code on #Github (links in my profile). I'm passionate about #diversity, #socialjustice, #sustainability, #ethics, #philosophy, and all things #tech. In my personal life, I love #food, #cooking, #reading, #yoga, #hiking, #art, and #StarTrek. I worked for many years on #Google #Search as a #software #engineer, #techlead, and #manager. I used to be proud of that, but lately I have concerns. My favorite #programming language is #Python, but I know many more, and lately have been quite enjoying #CUDA #GPU programming in #cplusplus.

#introduction make over for all the newbies. My name is Patrick Stewart; yes, this is my real name. I'm a father, husband, writer, and publisher. I run a publication on @[email protected] called The Taoist Online, which you can find here: https://thetaoist.online I talk a lot about #taoism, #philosophy, my #kids and #wife, and I post a daily #morning #mantra and pictures, so follow along! I hope to get to know you all more and share my life with you. If this is all you ever read from me then let it be this: I hope you aren't working too hard and try to let go of your worries. Focus on today because it's all there is. #writer #author #father #husband #taoist #learner #tech #startrek #fedora #linux #disabled #tinnitus #teampixel #pixel6pro #anxiety #startrek #books #author #publisher #writing

Third Chinese Patriarch of Zen 1/20 🧵 Translation by Richard B. Clarke of the HSIN HSIN MING attributed to Seng Ts'an, the The Great Way is not difficult for those who have no preferences. When love and hate are both absent, everything becomes clear and undisguised. Make the smallest distinction, however, and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart. #Chinese #Zen #Tao #Philosophy #Books #Quotes
