CW: June 10 and Pride Month (cw:sexual assault, depression, suicide, fat phobia, Asian Hate)
#Pride Month is a time to show love and acceptance. Although for me, it's always a reminder of a period where I didn't experience that. As a teen, I wasn't out and had experienced sexual assault. Feeling trapped and depressed, I admitted I was suicidal. This was on June 10, the day after my birthday. It was the message of "It Gets Better" that kept me through this period. During Pride Month, you're drilled into your head that the LGBTQ+ community is open and full of love. But I didn't experience that at first. What I experienced was: asian hate, fat phobia, and feeling invisible. My mental health did "Get Better", but the lesson was to not take things/phrases at face value. What #PrideMonth means to me is to celebrate all aspects of what makes us, us.

But for me, June 10 is what I celebrate most. It's the day when I sought out help and said, "I deserve to be here." We all do. And I'm glad I stuck around with you all.♥️

Polyamorous Pride :blobcathearthug: I was originally drawing it for 'Love's stronger than fear' prompt, but it ended up being more about my feelings for my partner: freedom, serenity, openness… There's just two of us, but polyamory affects our day-to-day life anyway, & it feels liberating. CW: nudity (nothing lewd, actually) #Art #MastodonArt #MastoArt #TraditionalArt #Watercolor #Polyamorous #Queer #Pride #Nudity

#Pride #AsianHate #Gay #PrideMonth is a rough time for me. I know I belong in the #LGBTQ+ community, it's inclusive for all, but I've experienced a lot of Asian hate/racism from within the community in the past. It *should* be better now since there's more awareness of Anti-Asian hate, but Pride Month triggers past trauma and it's hard to let it go.

When I came out to my friends, I lost most of them. Afterwards, I tried using gay apps to connect with people. The amount of fetishization that happened from within, not to mention descriptions of "no femmes, fats, or asians", I grew incredibly depressed. I hated my body and my ethnicity. It wasn't until I met my amazing partner that he pulled me out of self-deprecation and helped me raise my self-esteem/self-worth. I started embracing my ethnicity, personality, and differences. I'm much happier now.

I want to remind people to be open. Racism/prejudice/hate can come from places one might not expect. You never know what experiences one has been through either.

Insider was informed last week by multiple watchdog groups that members of both militias had secret plans to increase anti-LGBTQIA+ provocations during Pride parades, drag shows, and other events like those throughout June and beyond. Images of banners with anti-LGBTQIA+ slurs and slogans that individuals plan to carry to incite emotional reactions and violence have been shared in secret Telegram channels.
