New Server; New #Introduction I'm Daniel, I've been involved with activism for most of my life, and I have a life-long interest in the intersection of technology and class/privilege. I live near the sea -- but not too near -- in Midleton, a small town in Ireland. Parent to four kids, 75% of whom are now adults, and half of whom are attending University (which is *astonishing* as I'm still only 25...) I love #reading, and try to post about books I love, which are usually Science Fiction and Fantasy. #amreading I autodelete all my posts after 60 days. The book I'm reading right now just had the biggest Hallmark movie moment I've ever seen outside the actual Hallmark movie channel. Of course the guy has a fiance. Of course he does. Saw that coming a mile away. The magic is good, and I like the FMC, but goodness the rest is shit. (FWIW The book is The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heartbreak and Magic by Breanne Randall. And yes, with a title like that I shoulda known it would be like this.) #reading #amreading

I'm getting very sick of every Fantasy and Sci-Fi author thinking they have to be George R.R. Martin and making their novels into huge series. Not everything has to be a series. #reading #amreading #books

The Lonely Hearts Book Club by Lucy Gilmore (3.5 stars) The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner (3.25 stars) The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent (3.25 Stars) Paladin's Grace by T. Kingfisher (4 Stars) Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison (3.25 Stars) Was on a fantasy romance kick this month. Paladin's Grace was my fav. Going to read some epic fantasy in March. #reading #bookstodon #amreading

So, started Babel by R. F. Kuang yesterday. So far it is good, not spectacular. The magic system is very original, but I haven't really gotten attached to the characters yet. I will say that Robin is supposed to be very young, yet he sounds like an adult and has very odd like "narrator" moments where he foresees the future. It's a very odd writing style. #reading #books @[email protected]

Finished my fourth book for this year today. This time it was a fluffy little book called The Lonely Hearts Book Club. 3.75 Stars. Loved the characters, but the open ending made me want more. #reading #amreading
