"Rocky Linux from CIQ meets the needs of organizations who want to run community Rocky Linux within their IT infrastructure but need contractual guarantees and mitigation to liabilities that the open source community cannot provide." So, Rocky Linux is going full Oracle Enterprise Linux. I'm not entirely surprised, but I am disappointed. I suggest AlmaLinux, RHEL, CentOS, or SLES instead. Any one of those. https://www.theregister.com/2024/10/09/rocky_linux_from_ciq/ #Linux #RockyLinux #RHEL

Rocky now seems to be doing exactly what they called out #RedHat for doing with RHEL last year.

I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Principal Program Manager - Technical at Red Hat! My 2 years and 7 months at Red Hat have been the most rewarding and affirming years of my career. I'm excited about the rest of my future at this incredible company! #redhat

To those who are concerned that I'm going to talk about nothing but #Hashicorp for weeks, don't be. I was harder on #RedHat, not because I think that Red Hat had done something worse (they didn't), but rather that I frankly care about Red Hat more. The shop where I work is also a Hashicorp customer, but that relationship is far more expendable, IMO, and I had hopes that some in Red Hat would hear and consider feedback where I generally don't believe that to be the case for Hashicorp.

CW: RH drama
I've mostly been avoiding talking #redhat and #fedora because for most of the drama people have chosen their sides for whatever reason, be it loyalty habit dogma etc But the last thing that baffles me, is people saying they're leaving Fedora because of RH. To me that's like punishing #debian for something #Ubuntu did or in turn punishing ubntu for something one of the endless derivatives did

People just want to muddy the waters btwn upstream and downstream, communities and corporations
