Jonty Hurwitz is a South African artist, engineer, and entrepreneur, whose sculptures use both oblique (perspective) and catoptric (mirror) anamorphosis. In online talks, he explains that these three-dimensional sculptures could only have come into being with the advent of powerful computers: each involves billions of calculations using an algorithm derived from the mathematical constant π. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonty_Hurwitz#Anamorphic_sculpture #art #sculpture #language photo: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Anamorphic_sculpture_by_Jonty_Hurwitz.jpeg

Hey lets do a proper introduction post... So yes, I'm actually named Phineas, I live in Chicago, and I somehow survive by making things. To the extent I make money, it is done by drawing things that show up on beer. Most recently for 3 Floyds and Warpigs USA. I largely fail to make money by painting, drawing, and sometimes even sculpting things I find in my brain. I have a whole portfolio of stuff at octophant.us #introduction #hellomasto #art #mastoart #digitalart #sculpture

Brass cast little sculpture of a wood cube showing tunnels carved by a woodworm. Of course the tree was already firewood when I found it, I only cut it into a rough cube. And the woodworm was long gone: Wherever you are, I hope you're OK, it was nice making this collab with you. #MetalCasting #art #ContemporaryArt #sculpture #insect #beetle #abstract #organic #geometric #contrast #WoodWorm #carcoma #SciArt #wood #biology #entomology #casting #xylophague #collaboration
