This Brown Snake (Storeria dekayi) was basking on the path at the prairie park today. Too many shoes and bicycles out today so I moved it off to the side to be safe. These small serpents prefer moist microhabitats and consume earthworms, slugs, and snails. #herps #snakes #nature
