Hi y’all 👋 I thought I’d do a new intro post, given the influx of users. Living in #Michigan, I’m into #goats, #gardening, #simpleliving, #seedsaving, #solarpunk, and exploring the tension between #tech and #nature. Here to find a community of creative folks who are into #degrowth, #DIY, #solar, #privacy, and #sustainability. Let’s swap seeds, thoughts, and maybe a few wild ideas! 😁🌱💻☀️

New blog post! This one took weeks to write. It's about me finding a way to significantly reduce the power consumption of a Raspberry Pi Pico W working as a weather station, collecting environmental data. I am also writing about powering the Pico using solar panels, and this time it's a success, my weather station can now run indefinitely, powered by the sun! https://stfn.pl/blog/34-pico-power-consumption-solar-panels/ #RaspberryPi #RaspberryPiPico #Solar #offgrid

Dilemma for people with some insight in #PV / #solar energy installations.

I have an "old" Stecagrid 300 W inverter in almost new state (probably operated for less than three hours). It's close to ten yrs old though.

Is it still worth buying two panels (new, and cables etc) and connecting it to the grid?

"Buddherton, a white-haired Shih-tzu mix adorned with a large and few smaller tan spots, sits on short patchy grass in front of a series of three photovoltaic panels mounted on a wood-framed stand. His eyes are closed and his head tilted upwards, revealing his adorable underbite as he enjoys the warmth of the sun on his face."

Hi, Francisco from #Argentina here, this is my #introduction. I'm an independent software #developer, compulsive #learner and things #maker. Looking forward to bounce ideas off with people that share interests. New instance, new #introduction toot. Hello, I am Mark aka Simple Nomad. I have been on the Internet before there was really an Internet. I've worked as a researcher remotely since 1999 for the last 5 jobs with the word "security" in my title (once had the word "scientist"!) Current job at #GitLab the entire company is #AllRemote and I can say that This Is The Way. I have an extensive #homelab with static public IPs running real services (including this Mastodon instance), this network is a work lab as well as a home base for NMRC (https://www.nmrc.org), a #hacker collective formed mid-90s which still has a few active members. Personal blog is at https://www.markloveless.net. There you can read utter nonsense, and some extensive blogging on my #solar setup (no electric bill!) here in Texas. Yes this #hippy lives in Texas, I hate sports yet live 3.4 miles away from that atrocious giant stadium here in Arlington where the Cowboys are. I love #progmetal and #industrialmetal the most. I love #woodworking and have a full shop of expensive tools.
