Hi y’all 👋 I thought I’d do a new intro post, given the influx of users. Living in #Michigan, I’m into #goats, #gardening, #simpleliving, #seedsaving, #solarpunk, and exploring the tension between #tech and #nature. Here to find a community of creative folks who are into #degrowth, #DIY, #solar, #privacy, and #sustainability. Let’s swap seeds, thoughts, and maybe a few wild ideas! 😁🌱💻☀️

Time for a new #introduction I'm a #ComputerScience #PhD candidate at the #University of #Vermont (#UVM). There, I'm doing #AI and #ALife #research with Josh Bongard and many others. Themes include #evolution, #evolvability, innate #intelligence, #cells, #bodies, and #endosymbiosis. I believe #science should be open and accessible, so I write about my ideas on a #Wordpress #blog, review relevant #books on #Goodreads, and publish my source code on #Github (links in my profile). I'm passionate about #diversity, #socialjustice, #sustainability, #ethics, #philosophy, and all things #tech. In my personal life, I love #food, #cooking, #reading, #yoga, #hiking, #art, and #StarTrek. I worked for many years on #Google #Search as a #software #engineer, #techlead, and #manager. I used to be proud of that, but lately I have concerns. My favorite #programming language is #Python, but I know many more, and lately have been quite enjoying #CUDA #GPU programming in #cplusplus.

hi ☺️ this is a recommendation for an app collecting GOOD NEWS. i love it, as it shows me a ton of things i would otherwise never hear about. it also focuses on sustainability and equity. 🌱 it's an android app you can use in english or german. the organisation running it also has a podcast and a magazine (both in german). here's the link to the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.impactpartner.goodnews 🦋 tags: #news #GoodNews #sustainability #ClimateChange #equity #AppRecommendations #recommendations #environment #nature

It should be abundantly obvious that individual actions taken towards sustainability will *not* be enough. At the same time, it also seems absurd to knowingly participate in propagating the issue if one can avoid it. To that end, these are the things I've done to reduce my personal footprint: #sustainability #goinggreen #reduceyourfootprint #OurPlanetisBurning #ourplanetissick

Hi tech.lgbt, I'm Tricky! I've been here a little while, so I thought it might be nice with an #introduction. The obvious stuff out of the way, white, male, cis, 40+. Him/they are fine. Also ace, demi and pan question mark (I'm tired). I am a parent, editor, freelancer (but no unemployed), and a child loss survivor. I've been through quite a lot altogether, so therapy is pretty important to me right now. Topics that interest me include: #writing, #editing, #architecture, #art, #engineering, #flight, #alternativemusic, #physics, #astrodynamics, #transrights, #queerrights, #sustainability, simple #mathematics, #stevenuniverse, #startrekstrangenewworlds, #studioghibli, more?? #videogames, ostensibly.

That's is it, I think. See you around.

#introduction I'm into #intelligence, from #evolution itself, to #cells, #bodies, #minds, #communities, and #AI. I'm passionate about #diversity, #social-justice, #sustainability, and ethical #AI / #tech. I'm #writing about all this and more on my #blog. I read lots of relevant #books, which I review on #Goodreads. I'm a Xoogler and #software-engineer. I'm dabbling at my own #research while I wait to get into a #phd program. I publish my source code on #GitHub.

Hey there Mastodites (Mastophytes? Masticates? Mastodians? What are we calling ourselves?) #introduction time. I’m a #ProductOwner and #UX designer who builds tools to help companies and governments transition to a sustainable and #CircularEconomy. Originally Australian, now in the #Netherlands ten years. Mostly talking about #Sustainability, #Climate, #PlanetaryBoundaries, #PostGrowth / #Degrowth systems, and #foss / #tech, among many things. #Cycling and #UltimateFrisbee nut for fun.

2017 wins the award for second hottest year since we started measuring in 1850. 6 scientific groups dedicated to measuring #climate #change all measure the same result. #sustainability
