: https://anchor.host/someone-bought-30-wordpress-plugins-and-planted-a-backdoor-in-all-of-them/

https://mastodon.social/@Mastodon/113820521450833408

That BDFL way of running things is great until it isn't. #WordPress

Blah, I'm taking a break from Mastodon. I can't let myself keep getting sucked into this #WordPress fiasco, even though it's impacting my day job. It's sucking the life out of me. I just hope I can find solid work far away from WordPress soon. #WPDrama

【Reply collections】 Reply Collections have not yet really reached the centre of the #Fediverse. Among other things, moderation aspects play a role here (see FEP-7458 or FEP-5624). But in principle, they offer a wonderful opportunity to maintain consistency in discussion threads in the Fediverse. Smaller instances in particular often lack reactions to content published in the Fediverse. In principle, this is not a bad thing. Nevertheless, it makes sense for both servers and clients to be able to retrieve a complete comment tree in some scenarios (possibly at the request of a user). To this end, we have submitted a first draft in a pull request to the Upstream #ActivityPub plugin for #WordPress. In this case, we benefit from the already existing comment management of the WordPress core and only list approved comments in the replies collection. #ActivityPub #Fediverse #WordPress

Last week I fully moved 4 people's sites from WordPress.com, and I have more in my email still being worked on, helping take money out of Automattic's pocket for a ridiculous decision regarding user data. I've detailed how I'm migrating people off of WordPress.com to a self-hosted install in case you want to try to DIY a move. Find the details about why and how here: https://www.foundationwebdev.com/2024/03/the-great-migration-moving-from-wordpress-dot-com-to-self-hosted/ #WordPress #Automattic #UserData #DIY

New #Introduction posts since the others were getting stale! My name is david, and everyone knows that I’m a dog on the internet :bowie: That said, I don’t define my whole existence around being a #furry, but I also like the community and friends that I have made there :bowie_blush: For personal identity things, I’m a mixed-race #latine currently residing in Florida in the US. I am queer, and currently use the labels #agender, polyamorous, and pansexual. I am mid-thirties and use they/them pronouns and do not capitalize my name. I am neurodivergent #AuDHD. :v_agender: :v_pan: :v_trans: :verifiedpolyam_tricolor: I am a web developer, and mainly focus professionally on #WordPress maintenance, and personally on #OpenSource projects that I can share with others. I make simple or fun projects to share and teach others with. I am getting back to making tutorials to share on my personal sites. I’ve also started vlogging about this along with my weekly newsletter! Links in bio

Time for a new #introduction I'm a #ComputerScience #PhD candidate at the #University of #Vermont (#UVM). There, I'm doing #AI and #ALife #research with Josh Bongard and many others. Themes include #evolution, #evolvability, innate #intelligence, #cells, #bodies, and #endosymbiosis. I believe #science should be open and accessible, so I write about my ideas on a #Wordpress #blog, review relevant #books on #Goodreads, and publish my source code on #Github (links in my profile). I'm passionate about #diversity, #socialjustice, #sustainability, #ethics, #philosophy, and all things #tech. In my personal life, I love #food, #cooking, #reading, #yoga, #hiking, #art, and #StarTrek. I worked for many years on #Google #Search as a #software #engineer, #techlead, and #manager. I used to be proud of that, but lately I have concerns. My favorite #programming language is #Python, but I know many more, and lately have been quite enjoying #CUDA #GPU programming in #cplusplus.
